I changed the default browser to Chrome, clicking "sign in with browser" did nothing at first, 10 minutes later Chrome did open and I was able to login in the browser. When Firefox is the default browser a pop up opens asking to run Firefox as admin, I click "OK" then Firefox never opens. I am having a similar issue, when I click "sign in with browser" my browser never opens.

Type the command in the Registry Editor into the Command Prompt, replacing the %1 with the URL from earlier.Expand the registry entry, the open entry, and the command entry.Open Registry Editor and look for "x-github-desktop-auth".

Right click on the "click here" link and save that URL for later. If your browser does not redirect you back, please click here to continue." After signing in, you should be on a page that says "You are being redirected to the authorized application.Make sure you're signed out of GitHub in your default browser. No changes to registry are needed, but still. It ends up using Registry Editor, so BE CAREFUL. I wasn't able to get around this through any browsers or re-installations, but I was able to find a workaround. When I tried to sign in the next time, I began getting the issue noted above. To get it to allow me to try to open the Windows version, I then went into the Parallels settings and turned off app sharing both to and from the VM.I didn't notice this and clicked open, not sure if that's required for the repro. After authenticating, the browser prompted me to open GitHub Desktop (Mac).Attempt to authenticate through the browser.Install GitHub Desktop for Windows in the VM.I think the default Share Apps settings are important for the repro, though I'm not certain.
